SEHA, part of PureHealth, has launched a strategic partnership between SEHA Sheikh Tahnoon Bin Mohammed Medical City (STMC) in Al Ain Region and Germany’s Schoen Clinic Group, one of Europe’s leading providers of acute and post-acute rehabilitation services, to further advance rehabilitation services in the emirate, reinforcing its position as a leading global destination for healthcare.
The collaboration marks a significant milestone in advancing rehabilitation medicine across the UAE and the Gulf region. By combining SEHA STMC’s established foundation with Schoen Clinic’s international expertise, the partnership will transform the rehabilitation journey for patients, reinforcing Abu Dhabi’s position as a centre of excellence in advanced healthcare.
The signing ceremony took place at SEHA STMC in Al Ain Region, in the presence of senior leadership from PureHealth, SEHA and Schoen Clinic. Distinguished attendees included Saeed Jaber Mohd Al Kuwaiti, Group Chief Executive Officer of SEHA; Dr Sultan Mohamed Alkaram, Chief Executive Officer at Al Ain Region; Michael Tamegger, Executive Director of SEHA STMC Rehabilitation; Philipp Mielenz, Chief Executive Officer of Salma Rehabilitation Hospital; Dr Mate Ivancic, Chief Executive Officer of Schön Group; and Christopher Schön, Owner and Group Chief Financial Officer of Schön Group.
Through this collaboration, SEHA STMC will benefit from a comprehensive programme of knowledge transfer and clinical expertise. The agreement will bring visiting consultants in orthopaedics, neurology, and post-acute rehabilitation for both adults and children, as well as structured training and education for SEHA STMC clinicians, delivered both in person and online. The partners will also co-develop a Quality Management System aligned with international standards, further raising the benchmark of care.
A core objective of the partnership is to expand the range of advanced services available locally and provide easier access to specialised rehabilitation treatment.
Saeed Jaber Mohd Al Kuwaiti, Group Chief Executive Officer of SEHA, said: “Our partnership with Schoen Clinic reflects SEHA’s commitment to delivering world-class rehabilitation care here in the UAE. By bringing international expertise directly to our community, we are transforming the patient journey and establishing new standards of care for both adults and children.”
Dr Mate Ivancic, Chief Executive Officer of Schön Group, said: “Schoen Clinic is proud to partner with SEHA STMC to share our expertise in neurology, orthopaedics, and post-acute care. This collaboration is more than a knowledge exchange, it is an opportunity to shape the future of rehabilitation in the Gulf region.”
The initiative is a cornerstone of PureHealth and SEHA’s ambition to make Abu Dhabi a global reference point for healthcare excellence. By embedding international best practices and fostering a culture of continuous learning, the collaboration aims to create a world-class rehabilitation model that improves outcomes, builds local capacity, and delivers lasting impact for patients and their families.
