The General Women’s Union (GWU), in partnership with AD Ports Group, has organised the first introductory session for the international track of the ATLG training programme, aimed at empowering women in artificial intelligence and the digital economy.
The session brought together 50 participants from 12 countries, marking a significant step in the programme’s transition from a national initiative to an international platform dedicated to building women’s capabilities in artificial intelligence and the digital economy.
The launch of the international track is held under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and Mother of the Nation.
The expansion builds on the journey of ATLG, launched in 2020 through a partnership between the General Women’s Union and AD Ports Group, with its initial phases focused on strengthening the participation of national talent in strategic and technology-driven sectors.
The programme’s international expansion embodies the approach established by Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, centred on investing in women’s capabilities, expanding their opportunities to participate in future-oriented sectors, and sharing the UAE’s experience in women’s empowerment through broader avenues of international cooperation. It also translates the objectives of the Mother of the Nation 50:50 Vision into practical programmes with an impact extending beyond the national level.
Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women’s Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and Mother of the Nation said: "When we believe in humanity, we believe that human energy is the true wealth of nations. From this firm conviction, the United Arab Emirates has made investing in its sons and daughters a steadfast approach, granting women special care out of the belief that they are an essential partner and a foundational pillar in building nations and shaping the future.
‘’The launch of the international track of the ATLG training programme is a true translation of our developmental mission — one that believes knowledge grows and multiplies through sharing, and that the success of our national experiences is only complete when it transcends national borders to inspire other communities and support their journey toward progress and growth.
"We have witnessed how the Emirati woman, through her hard work, determination, and the support of her leadership and homeland, has transformed into a pioneer and influencer in the most delicate and complex sectors. Today, as we extend this pioneering expertise to broader global horizons, we aim to deliver this ambitious spirit to every woman around the world, equipping her with the tools of the modern era so she can be an active partner in decision-making and a primary engine for development.
Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak added: ‘’Since its inception, the ATLG programme has served as a forward-looking platform fulfilling this vision, crowned by the massive successes it achieved locally thanks to the dedicated efforts of the General Women’s Union and the effective strategic partnership with AD Ports Group, which has presented an exemplary national model in leveraging field expertise and global leadership to serve our developmental goals."
The new track includes participants and nominees from across the world. This grants the programme a global dimension that brings together diverse expertise and backgrounds within a shared training environment, cementing the role of international partnerships in enhancing women's participation in the digital economy, trade, and logistics.
Her Excellency Noura Khalifa Al Suwaidi, Secretary-General of the General Women’s Union, said: "The international track of the ATLG initiative represents a new milestone in the journey of a programme that has proven its ability to evolve and respond to the rapid transformations in the future sectors. Today, we are taking this experience to a broader scope, enabling the exchange of knowledge and expertise and building a network of female talents capable of actively contributing to the global digital economy."
Her Excellency added that this expansion embodies the forward-looking vision of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, who has made women's capacity building and the investment in their knowledge and skills a fundamental pillar for achieving sustainable development. Through the Mother of the Nation 50:50 Vision, the General Women’s Union, in cooperation with its strategic partners, is moving forward to translate this vision into tangible opportunities, programmes, and partnerships that open new horizons for women to have a presence and impact in the sectors shaping the future."
Sultan Al Ghaithi, Chief Human Resources Officer at AD Ports Group, said: "The international expansion of the ATLG program marks a qualitative leap in broadening the scope of investment in women's capabilities worldwide, opening new opportunities for them to acquire the skills demanded by the digital economy. At AD Ports Group, we believe that empowering women goes beyond developing their skills; it extends to providing an environment that enables them to apply these skills in vital fields such as artificial intelligence, trade, and logistics. We extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to the General Women’s Union for its strategic partnership and continuous efforts in supporting and empowering women. Through this partnership, we look forward to continuing to build a foundation of female talent capable of innovating and contributing effectively to the future economy, both locally and globally."
The training programme spans three months, five days a week, and is delivered remotely. It combines expert-led practical training, self-paced learning, mentoring, and specialised sessions conducted by industry experts.
The international track focuses on building future skills in artificial intelligence and digital technologies, enabling participants to develop practical digital solutions, helping bridge the skills gap in AI, and fostering innovation, critical thinking, and problem-solving to support career growth opportunities and active participation in the digital economy.
The training content progresses through stages that include data and AI fundamentals, programming and application development, digital design, cloud computing and the deployment of digital solutions, cybersecurity and data protection, culminating in the development and presentation of applied solutions linked to real-world business use cases.
The international track constitutes a qualitative extension of the ATLG journey, which began with four cohorts dedicated to Emirati women before expanding later to include new tracks and categories, culminating in the current international phase aimed at enhancing women's global presence in digital trade, logistics, and artificial intelligence.
