The second edition of the Abu Dhabi Government Games, organised by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC), have concluded in celebration of the holy month of Ramadan, having accomplished the goals of strengthening social relations between Abu Dhabi Government institution employees, while also highlighting the importance of sports’ role in preventing diseases and ameliorating bad lifestyle habits.

The Abu Dhabi Sports Hub, Al Forsan Resort, Al Hudayriat Island, and Yas Marina Circuit hosted the 2024 championship’s activities, in which more than 40 government entities and more than 2,000 male and female employees participated.

The championship’s second edition aimed to improve interpersonal relationships between employees, enhance their performances in the work environment and leave positive impacts on their mental and physical health, all within a competitive and enthusiastic atmosphere that celebrated the spirit of challenge and unity.

The winners were crowned by His Excellency Rashed Abdulkarim Al Blooshi, Undersecretary of the Abu Dhabi Department of Economic Development (ADDED), His Excellency Dr Ahmed Al Qubaisi, Executive Director of the Support Services Sector at ADSC, and His Excellency Talal Al Hashemi, Executive Director of the Events Sector at ADSC, in a ceremony held at the Abu Dhabi Sports Hub in the presence of government entity representatives and the teams. The winners of 11 competitions (Football, Shooting, Padel, Fitness, Volleyball, Table Tennis, 3x3 Basketball, Chess, Badminton, Running, and Cycling) were honoured during the closing ceremony, which itself garnered praise for its artistry and organisation.

The Abu Dhabi Agriculture and Food Safety Authority (ADAFSA) won the Participation award for the largest number of employees enrolled in various competitions, while Abu Dhabi Police won the Sports Excellence award after winning the largest number of competitions.

The coordinators of the participating entities and the volunteers from the Emirati Marshals Programme were also honoured for their efforts in contributing to organisation of the 2nd Abu Dhabi Government Games and making the event a success.
