Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF), and Mother of the Nation, has affirmed that the UAE, under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, prioritises senior citizens, provides them with the necessary support and is positioned among leading countries in upholding senior citizens’ rights and ensuring their wellbeing. This is achieved by fostering a supportive environment that improves the lives of senior citizens and assists caregivers, reflecting the leadership’s forward-looking vision to adopt comprehensive strategies that position the UAE as a regional and global model for others to follow.
Commenting on the launch of the Barakatna initiative by the Department of Community Development and the FDF in collaboration with partner stakeholders, Her Highness said: "This initiative enhances the lives of senior citizens by creating an inclusive and nurturing environment that enables them to live with pride and dignity alongside their families and caregivers. By leveraging all resources that promote psychological and social stability, independence and empowerment for seniors and their families, this initiative supports our goals of meeting their living, healthcare and social needs. It embodies the UAE's vision of building a sustainable society that embraces all its segments."
Her Highness commended the efforts of all entities dedicated to supporting and caring for senior citizens, recognising their vital social role and the impactful initiatives, programmes and projects aimed at providing the best standards of care. These efforts align with national strategies, highlighting the importance of constructive collaboration to enable entities to support senior citizens in living with dignity and independence.
