In line with Smart and Autonomous Systems Council’s efforts to establish a world-class smart autonomous mobility ecosystem in Abu Dhabi, the Integrated Transport Centre (Abu Dhabi Mobility), an affiliate of the Department of Municipalities and Transport, has held a series of specialised workshops that brought together over 130 representatives from more than 60 organisations across government and the private sector involved in smart mobility. The workshops focused on identifying challenges and exploring opportunities for advancing autonomous mobility in Abu Dhabi, including land transport, aviation, and marine sectors.

The discussions were structured across eight key thematic areas, including manufacturing and distribution, technical systems and software, commercial operations, autonomous vehicle traffic management, infrastructure, training and development of national talent, as well as operational pilot accelerators, oversight, and investment opportunities.

The workshops concentrated on three main domains- land, air, and sea. The first addressed the ecosystem of autonomous land vehicles and related activities, aiming to identify existing gaps and propose targeted solutions. The second covered advanced aviation, including drones and tackled challenges related to regulation, integration, and safe usage, with the goal of developing an unified and sustainable regulatory framework. The third explored autonomous maritime transport, examining operational use cases and emphasising the importance of its integration these systems into the emirate’s comprehensive transport network.

The workshops also highlighted the importance of enhancing the collaboration between the public and private sectors by providing a shared space for developing practical, actionable solutions that support the sustainable growth of the ecosystem. They focused on identifying gaps in existing systems and regulations to ensure the sector is ready for future development.

The workshops are part of the Integrated Transport Centre’s (Abu Dhabi Mobility) ongoing commitment to developing smart mobility in Abu Dhabi, in line with national priorities around AI and sustainability. They also support the emirate’s ambition to be a leading regional hub for future mobility technologies.
