Under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE and Ruler of Abu Dhabi, His Highness Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Court, Member of the Executive Council has inaugurated Saeed Bin Ahmed Al Otaiba Street — formerly Delma Street — in recognition of contributions to Abu Dhabi's economy and cultural heritage by the poet and former Chairman of Abu Dhabi Chamber of Industry and Commerce.

The ceremony to inaugurate the street was attended by His Excellency Dr Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Chairman of the Department of Community Development, and Member of the Executive Council, and His Excellency Falah Mohamed Al Ahbabi, Chairman of the Department of Municipalities and Transport andMember of the Executive Council, as well as family members of  Al Otaiba, and several senior officials. 

Saeed bin Ahmed Al Otaiba was born in 1916 in the Al Dhahr neighborhood in Abu Dhabi. He started his career as a pearl trader, and later traded commodities in several countries.

He served in several government entities after the formation of the UAE. He became Chairman of Abu Dhabi Chamber of Industry and Commerce in 1971 and was elected Chairman of the UAE Federation of the Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FCCI). Saeed Bin Ahmed Al Otaiba is also a prominent figure in colloquial poetry.
