Mohamed Bin Zayed University for Humanities is organising the Family Cohesion Journey. The programme is offered in partnership with the Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, Family Care Authority, ADNEC Group, Municipal Presence Centres, and DCD’s Nabdh Community Hubs, and is built around the theme A Family Journey Toward Learning, Culture, Volunteering, and Dialogue.

Together, these partners aim to support family stability, strengthen the bonds within families, and help them carry out their central role in raising a generation that is informed, responsible, and engaged in the country’s development.

The initiative supports the goals of the Year of Family 2026, which the UAE established to affirm the family as the foundation of social stability and the first setting in which values and national identity take shape. It also reflects the forward-looking vision of the country’s leadership for building a prosperous and sustainable society.

The Family Cohesion Journey offers an interactive programme organised around five tracks: culture, education, volunteer work, family dialogue, and sport.

Participation is recorded through a Year of Family Passport, giving families the opportunity to take part in activities that broaden their knowledge, develop their skills, and open new ways to connect, cooperate, and discover shared interests.

The passport also gives participating families access to cultural and educational venues, along with discounts on a range of sports and recreational activities, including Abu Dhabi Summer Sports, held at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi.

Participating entities will begin welcoming families participating in the initiative by delivering introductory workshops on the programme and the benefits available to participants. Activities will continue through mid-November 2026, followed by the evaluation and validation of results. Outstanding participating families will then be recognised, and the winners will be announced in December

His Excellency Dr. Khalifa Mubarak Al Dhaheri, Chancellor of Mohamed Bin Zayed University for Humanities, said the family is more than a social framework that brings individuals together.

He described it as the first civilisation institution, the place where character is formed, where a system of values is built, and where a person’s relationship with community, nation, and future begins.

His Excellency added that although the world is changing at a rapid pace, the need for cohesive and informed families remains constant. Building the future, he explained, begins in a home capable of producing knowledge, instilling responsibility, and encouraging a culture of dialogue and giving.

He noted that the partnership with the participating national institutions represents a strong model of institutional cooperation and reflects a firm belief that combining efforts produces initiatives with lasting benefit for the community.

He also said the Family Cohesion Journey is an open invitation for families to turn their time together into a foundation of shared experience, one that improves quality of life and gives younger generations greater room to learn, take part, and create.
