The Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) has delivered summer enrichment programmes to more than 1,300 students across Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, strengthening core subject skills, accelerating future-ready and AI competencies, encouraging students to pursue sporting passions and creating lasting summer memories
In line with its priorities, the programmes aim to equip students with future-ready skills while strengthening the pipeline of high-calibre educators across Abu Dhabi, turning the summer break into an opportunity to keep learning, explore new interests and return to school with greater confidence and momentum.
At the heart of this summer’s offering was ADEK’s new Arabic & Math Summer Program, which welcomed 800 Grade 1-9 students – a six-week initiative designed to keep younger students engaged in learning, bridge gaps in core subjects, encourage them to stay active and make lasting memories. Digital platforms, AI-supported tools and mentor guidance enabled students to practice key concepts at their own pace and strengthen their foundations ahead of the new academic year.
The programme brought together academic development with sports activities, delivered through Abu Dhabi Summer Sports at ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi, and cultural experiences delivered in collaboration with the Department of Culture and Tourism - Abu Dhabi to strengthen students’ connection to the community and national identity.
The programme also provided hands-on experience for future educators from ADEK’s Kon Moallim and Midad teacher development pathways. Working alongside students as teachers and mentors, participants gained valuable classroom experience while putting their developing teaching skills into practice.
For Cycle 3 students, the summer was also an opportunity to accelerate future-ready skills. The AgenticVerse AI Program: Agentic AI Systems – Designing Multi-Agent Intelligence, delivered across 42 Abu Dhabi and MZN Hub Al Ain, welcomed more than 500 students across five specialised cohorts. The five-day immersive programme moved students beyond learning about AI to actively building with it through a project-based, hands-on activities and experiences.
As part of the programme, Khalifa Fund introduced interactive sessions that enabled students to develop innovative ideas and solutions using AI technologies through practical challenges, strengthening the connection between theoretical learning and real-world application. Students also took part in workshops and challenges spanning a broad range of focus areas, delivered with leading industry partners, including Sandooq Al Watan and the Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR), where they applied their AI capabilities to preserve national identity and heritage, develop solutions across future careers, safety, and sustainability, while connecting their learning to challenges and opportunities that contribute to shaping the UAE’s future.
ADEK’s summer enrichment programmes reinforce its commitment to extending learning beyond the classroom, combining education, emerging technology, culture, sports and industry to help students return to school ready for the year ahead, while nurturing the confidence, curiosity and skills to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
