ADQ has inaugurated two newly refurbished public basketball courts in Abu Dhabi as part of its collaboration with the National Basketball Association (NBA).

The initiative underscores ADQ’s commitment to promoting healthy and active lifestyles across the emirate by providing communities with greater access to high-quality sports facilities and encouraging participation in activities that enhance both physical and social well-being.

Building on the success of the first refurbished facility at Zayed Sports City, the new courts at Capital Garden mark the next step in ADQ’s collaboration with the NBA, with further openings planned in Abu Dhabi and Al Ain Region. Together, these spaces form part of ADQ’s broader efforts to strengthen community engagement and create lasting platforms that inspire people of all ages to embrace healthier and more active lives.

The unveiling ceremony featured a ribbon-cutting by Anas Jawdat Albarguthi, Group Chief Operating Officer of ADQ, and David Watts, NBA Head of the Middle East. Following the ceremony, players from the Jr. NBA/Jr. WNBA Abu Dhabi League participated in NBA Fit clinics, a series of interactive sessions designed to promote fitness, bringing the refurbished facility to life.

The Capital Garden courts opened to the public during the week of The NBA Abu Dhabi Games 2025 presented by ADQ, featuring the New York Knicks and the Philadelphia 76ers. The timing further reinforced the impact of the collaboration by inspiring communities to stay active while celebrating world-class basketball talent and the sport’s growing popularity across the UAE.
