The Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority has obtained accreditation for the Advanced Stroke Life Support (ASLS) programme, certified by the American Heart Association (AHA), alongside the renewal of its international accreditation as an AHA-authorised training centre. This achievement reflects the integration of its training system and its progress in developing specialised capabilities, enhancing rapid response to critical cases and improving the quality of healthcare outcomes in the emirate.

The accreditation of the ASLS programme represents an advanced step in the authority’s efforts to enhance the emergency care system. The programme focuses on strengthening accurate assessment skills, accelerating clinical decision-making, and activating early therapeutic interventions based on evidence-based scientific methodology. This contributes to improving outcomes in stroke cases and enhancing operational integration between pre-hospital services and emergency departments.

The renewal of the authority’s accreditation as an AHA-authorised training centre reflects its continued commitment to qualifying emergency personnel in accordance with the highest international standards. This is achieved through the delivery of specialised training programmes, including Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), as well as first aid courses, thereby enhancing the capabilities of personnel and healthcare providers and strengthening community readiness to effectively respond to emergencies.

Brigadier Salem Abdullah Bin Barak Al Dhaheri, Director General of the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority, said: “The accreditation of the Advanced Stroke Life Support programme, along with the renewal of the authority’s accreditation as an AHA-authorised training centre, represents a strategic milestone in the development of our institutional capabilities. It reflects our continuous commitment to adopting global best practices in training and qualification, enhancing operational integration, and strengthening the readiness of our personnel to efficiently and effectively respond to various emergency situations.”

This achievement comes as an extension of the authority’s efforts to build an advanced training system, strengthen its strategic partnerships with leading global institutions, and reinforce its position as a leading entity in emergency and response fields. It is further supported by its achievements in ambulance services and its attainment of the Canadian Diamond Accreditation, in alignment with the Abu Dhabi Government’s vision to achieve global leadership in healthcare quality and community safety.

The authority also provides accredited training programmes targeting medical personnel and various segments of the community, with registration available through the TAMM platform. These programmes contribute to developing essential skills for handling emergency cases, enhancing national readiness, and supporting Abu Dhabi’s vision of building a safe and sustainable society.
