The Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority has signed a cooperation agreement with the Advanced Technology Research Council, with the aim of fostering collaboration in the fields of artificial intelligence, developing integrated strategies and training specialised national talent, and advancing safety and civil protection in Abu Dhabi to ensure its long-term sustainability.
The agreement was signed by Brigadier General Salem Abdullah bin Barak Al Dhaheri, Director General of Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority, and His Excellency Shihab Issa Abu Shihab, Director General of the Advanced Technology Research Council, as part of efforts to adopt smart, sustainable solutions that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of civil defence operations.
Brigadier General Salem Abdullah bin Barak Al Dhaheri emphasised that this partnership marks a significant milestone in advancing prevention and safety tools and technologies. Al Dhaheri noted that the integration of artificial intelligence into civil defence operations reflects the authority’s commitment to keeping pace with global advancements and leveraging them to serve the community while enhancing readiness to face a wide range of challenges.
His Excellency Shihab Issa Abu Shihab stated that this collaboration represents a major step towards leveraging research and development to serve Abu Dhabi’s strategic priorities. His Excellency noted that the agreement strengthens the research ecosystem’s ability to translate advanced technologies into tangible solutions that enhance community safety and protection, reaffirming the council’s role as a key driver of smart innovations in Abu Dhabi.
Both sides emphasised the importance of investing in modern technology and knowledge to build a smart civil defence ecosystem capable of adapting to change and minimising risks while ensuring the highest levels of operational efficiency.
The cooperation agreement includes the development of innovative projects and smart solutions to address current and future challenges in community prevention and safety by harnessing artificial intelligence to build a flexible and effective system that protects lives and property while improving quality of life.
This collaboration aligns with the strategic objectives of the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority to set a pioneering model for integrating smart technologies into the civil protection ecosystem, creating an adaptive environment capable of meeting evolving needs and ensuring community safety and wellbeing.
