The United Arab Emirates has achieved a significant milestone, leading the fifth edition of the WorldSkills GCC Competition Doha 2025, hosted by Qatar from 26 – 30 October, with the participation of teams from all GCC countries.

The competition followed the standards of WorldSkills International, the world’s most prestigious benchmark in technical and vocational education and training.

Representing the UAE, the team from the Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ACTVET) won 6 gold medals and 1 bronze medal across seven competitive skills.

In addition, Maryam Hashem Al Hashmi, a student competing in Graphic Design Technology, won the GCC Award for Best Competitor after achieving the highest score among all participants in the competition.

With this achievement, the UAE secured first place regionally in total points, reaffirming its leadership in developing national talent capable of competing regionally and globally. The competition brought together a group of talented youth from across the GCC, featuring 46 competitors supervised by 39 experts. The UAE team competed in seven main skills and two junior demonstration skills designed to inspire youth innovation and exploration of modern technical disciplines. The junior category results were not counted in the official rankings.

His Excellency Dr Mubarak Saeed Al Shamsi, Director General of ACTVET, said: "This achievement reflects the wise leadership’s vision in empowering Emirati youth and equipping them with future skills that qualify them for global competitiveness. The WorldSkills GCC Competition Doha 2025 is not merely a competition, but a celebration of youth from the Gulf, their talents, and their spirit of brotherhood and collaboration among GCC nations.

“We are proud of our youth who represented the UAE with excellence and earned these honourable results through their dedication and hard work. The UAE’s leadership in the competition and its win of the GCC Best Competitor Award, highlight the outstanding quality and competence of Emirati youth and the Centre’s commitment to enabling students to participate actively in national and regional arenas, an essential step toward preparing for upcoming international competitions.

“The success of the UAE team in this  competition, held under the highest international standards, represents a significant milestone in developing national skills and reinforces the country’s position as a leading platform for nurturing future-ready talent.”

His Excellency also extended his sincere appreciation to Qatar for its warm hospitality and excellent organisation, praising the high level of competition and cooperation that reflected the spirit of unity among GCC nations and contributed to the success of the event and its objectives.
