Following the exceptional success of the Life Endowment campaign, which exceeded its five-year target of AED1 billion in less than one month with contributions from more than 200,000 donors, the Endowments and Minors’ Funds Authority (Awqaf Abu Dhabi) has announced the debut of financing generated through the initiative.

This next chapter marks a major transition from fundraising to impact deployment, as Awqaf Abu Dhabi begins deploying the first returns generated from endowment assets, alongside contributions, to directly support medical cases identified as critical. A list of 140 patients has been prioritised, ensuring that funds are channelled immediately to those in greatest need.

The campaign now demonstrates a pioneering financial model where philanthropic capital generates continuous income streams that are directed into covering treatment for chronic illnesses, supporting medical innovation, and addressing urgent cases. While reinvested capital grows the fund for long-term resilience, the campaign remains dedicated to supporting the most vulnerable segments of society, including People of Determination and patients with chronical diseases ensuring that lifesaving care and innovation reach those whose wellbeing depends most on sustained assistance.

His Excellency Fahad Abdulqader Al Qassim, Director General of Awqaf Abu Dhabi, said: "Debuting financing from Life Endowment represents a pivotal step in transforming generosity into lasting value. We are beginning to channel the first returns from endowment assets, guided by clear priorities and data, to address the most urgent medical needs of 140 patients. This is the essence of waqf in its modern form: a financial instrument that generates sustainable resources and directly contributes to supporting social life.

“Every contribution has created a foundation for continuous support. We are safeguarding the wellbeing of families today while building a framework that will sustain healthcare for generations. I extend my gratitude to every donor; from leadership to philanthropists and community members, and I call on others to join this legacy. With each contribution, we expand the reach of the campaign, touching more lives, inspiring hope, and shaping a healthier future."

His Excellency emphasised that the success of Life Endowment marks a turning point in the evolution of modern and sustainable endowment. Through strategic partnerships with leading national entities, the campaign has launched diverse and innovative endowment projects, managed with a focus on maximising returns and ensuring long-term financial sustainability.

The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH) oversees a rigorous selection process for eligible medical cases through a streamlined communication mechanism enabling healthcare facilities to report patient cases requiring treatment support. This process is built on precise, evidence-based criteria aligned with best international practices, ensuring transparency, equity and thorough evaluation of each patient’s medical requirements. A specialised DoH team meticulously reviews all submissions to identify cases eligible for support. This data-driven approach reflects strategic alignment between health policy and philanthropic funding, establishing an innovative and accountable framework that delivers immediate patient relief and long-term sustainability.

Her Excellency Dr Noura Khamis Al Ghaithi, Undersecretary of the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi, said: “The Department of Health - Abu Dhabi is proud of the outstanding success of the Life Endowment campaign, made possible through our strategic partnership with Awqaf Abu Dhabi and the continuous support of our partners who believe in its noble vision. This campaign reflects the UAE’s deep-rooted legacy of generosity and social solidarity, enabling us to deliver specialised, integrated, and effective healthcare services across the community. This initiative serves as a testament to the department’s ongoing efforts to safeguarding the health and well-being of every member of our community, reinforcing the emirate’s position as a leading global destination for excellence in healthcare.”

PureHealth, having made a AED50 million contribution at the launch of the campaign, is reinforcing its role at this stage by mobilising volunteers from among its leading doctors and healthcare teams to provide direct, timely care to the patients identified by DoH. This partnership demonstrates the unique strength of Life Endowment, where responsible investment is combined with compassionate front-line healthcare.

Farhan Malik, Founder and Managing Director of PureHealth, said: “The Life Endowment campaign embodies Abu Dhabi’s vision and humanitarian values inspired by the legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. It brings together compassion and innovation to deliver real and lasting impact on people’s lives. We believe that true wellbeing extends beyond physical health to include longevity, prosperity and community cohesion. Through this initiative, we are honoured to contribute to a better future where generosity and innovation unite to create sustainable change for generations to come.”

The Life Endowment campaign, launched under the slogan With You For Life, remains open for contributions. Through innovative investment management and the spirit of solidarity that defines the UAE, Awqaf Abu Dhabi is ensuring that today’s giving evolves into tomorrow’s sustainable healthcare lifeline.
