Abu Dhabi’s swift response to the COVID-19 pandemic, including widespread testing and wellbeing initiatives, have been integral to its successful handling of the pandemic.
Abu Dhabi played a leading role in the world’s first Phase III trial of the inactivated vaccine, which started in Abu Dhabi in July – developed by Sinopharm CNBG and Abu Dhabi-based G42 Healthcare – under the administration of Abu Dhabi’s Department of Health and the UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention.
Abu Dhabi government has also launched a comprehensive suite of economic and community support and relief packages. These included an Economic Stimulus Package of 16 initiatives under Ghadan 21 to increase ease of doing business and reduce the cost of living.
The Ma’an Authority for Social Contribution’s Together We Are Good programme was an opportunity for the community to show its support for those in need. It raised more than Dh45 million in its first 24 hours, and has supported 400,000 residents.
