What is Green Pass?
Green Pass is part of the emirate’s proactive measures to contain the spread of the virus and its mutated strains. Green Pass is indicated on Alhosn app and is required to enter some public places in Abu Dhabi emirate, to ensure public health and safety. It applies to citizens, residents and visitors.

How can I activate Green Pass?
Green Pass is activated if you are fully vaccinated and have a negative PCR test result from within the past 30 days. To be fully vaccinated, you must have received two doses of a vaccine. To maintain vaccination status, you must receive a booster dose if you received your second or third dose six months or more. Refer to ‘Do I need a booster dose?’ for more details.

Green Pass is also activated if you have an official exemption, as documented on Alhosn, and a negative PCR test result from within the past 7 days. Green Pass is automatically activated for children aged under 16 years, without the requirement for a test.

If you are a new resident, you have a grace period of 60 days to be vaccinated and will have Green Pass during the grace period.

Why do I need Green Pass?
Green Pass is required to enter some public places in Abu Dhabi emirate. The decision applies to shopping centres, restaurants and cafes, sports and recreational facilities, health resorts, universities and academic institutions, museums and cultural centres, entertainment centres, and shops outside shopping centres (except supermarkets and pharmacies).

Those with grey status on Alhosn app, which reflects an expired PCR test (PCR expires every 7 days for those who have an official exemption from vaccination and 30 days for vaccinated), are prohibited from entering these public places.

Unvaccinated individuals can enter to events, tourist attractions and cultural sites in Abu Dhabi with a negative PCR test received within 48 hours, effective Thursday 17 March 2022.

I’m a new resident to Abu Dhabi, do I need Green Pass?
New residents to Abu Dhabi emirate are given a grace period of two months to get vaccinated before their Alhosn app status will turn grey. During the grace period, new residents will follow the procedure for those exempted from vaccination. This includes having a negative PCR test result every 7 days to maintain Green Pass.

Do I need Green Pass to enter a government entity or customer service centre?
Yes, the Green Pass on Alhosn app is required for all employees, visitors and contractors to enter government entities and customer service centres. You should follow the approved safety protocol of each location if it is not listed in the public places that require Green Pass.

Is Green Pass required to enter schools?
No, Green Pass is not required to enter a school. Updated information related to the safe return to schools is available on the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK) website.

Information about approved capacity for commercial activities and events

What is the capacity for certain commercial activities?
Effective Friday, 29 April, 2022, the Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Committee has approved a return to 100 per cent operating capacity in all commercial activities, tourist attractions, and events in the emirate, in line with the maintained low Covid-19 infection rate.

Wearing face masks in outdoor spaces is still optional, but wearing face masks in indoor spaces is required, and physical distancing must still be observed. EDE scanner and green pass are still required for all employees’ and visitors’ entry.
